Humphrey Farms Press Release

Humphrey Farms Ltd has announced today that it has sold 100% of the share capital of Humphrey Feeds & Pullets to Wynnstay Group Plc, which includes its site at Calne. Humphrey Feeds & Pullets is based in Hampshire with annual sales of 110,000 tonnes of Poultry feed to independent poultry feed customers across the South of the UK. The business intends to invest the share capital raised, to further develop its Enterprise Park at Twyford and its property and investment portfolio, said Jonathan Humphrey, Group Managing Director.

Humphrey Feeds was established in 1932. Over the years they have grown and diversified creating the strong recognised brand of ‘Humphrey Feeds & Pullets’ within the UK Poultry sector. The business will continue to operate as Humphrey Feeds & Pullets, a subsidiary of Wynnstay Group Plc. Neil Richardson will continue as Managing Director reporting to Gareth Davies CEO of Wynnstay Group Plc, and Martin Humphrey will continue as Sales Director and board member. There will be no change in the day-to-day operation and management of the business, and customers will see no change in the excellent products and service they provide, it is very much ‘business as usual’ quotes Neil Richardson. They will continue to operate out of Twyford in Hampshire, with the manufacturing of feed continuing until their Calne site is fully redeveloped, to a state-of-the-art facility, which is anticipated being fully commissioned in 2024.

Martin Humphrey, Sales Director Humphrey Feeds & Pullets, said the Poultry sector continues to consolidate with the increased demands of retailers and packers. Therefore, it is essential we continue to develop as a business, ensuring we invest in new technology, product development and operational efficiency, to achieve this we require a likeminded investor. As a subsidiary of Wynnstay Group Plc we will be in a position to capitalise on the strengths of both businesses and further strengthen our brand, ensuring that we remain a market leader for Advanced Poultry Performance, for many years to come.

Wynnstay Group Plc, which was established in 1918 as a farmer cooperative and converted to a Plc in 1992, remains focused on farmers and the rural community, supporting livestock and arable farmers to produce food in a more sustainable, environmentally friendly and profitable way. This acquisition combines 194 years of experience whilst sharing the same values, with people being the core to success, said Gareth Davies, CEO Wynnstay Group Plc.
